“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world.” ― Philip Pullman

Oral Storytelling in a Digital Age

The art of oral storytelling brings so many benefits.

It brings joy and wonder. Culture and Community.

It helps with speaking, listening confidence and with writing.

And it constantly grows and changes as our technology and society does.

I am a Liverpool based storyteller and teacher and I would like to introduce myself.

As a teacher and then a freelance storyteller, drama practitioner & performer, I have been working with young people of all ages, for over 22 years.

I bring my Immersive PopUp Space to schools around the country. Telling Traditional Tales, Myths, Legends, Stories from other cultures and stories intrinsically linked to the Curriculum and History.

By way of introduction I would like to invite you to find out more about what I offer at – https://gavcross.co.uk

As a further thank you for taking the time to read and find out a little more I would like to tell you about a special introductory offer exclusive to schools new to me.

As a guideline:

– A full day of Digital Storytelling averages at about 5 x 50 minute sessions.
– Each session can take up to 60 young people (two classes)

– Smaller Groups for the very young is advised.

– It would need a large space that can be used exclusively for the day.
(Or if the space is a lunch time dining space the tables can work around the PopUp.)

– Stories can be chosen from a wide list.

Normally the fee for this would be from £300 plus reasonable expenses.

By way of introduction if you book me by the end of January 2017 the fee would be £250 including VAT plus reasonable expenses.
Do let me know if you have any further questions and would like to know more!

Many Regards

“Gav has been conducting story telling activities within the school for the past four years. He has become our storyteller in residence. His work is inspirational. He has children and adults alike, mesmerised by his story telling techniques and skills. Gav has motivated all our children to talk and write and this has resulted in even the most reluctant writers producing high quality, imaginative pieces of writing.”

Andrea Connearn, Headteacher – St Hugh’s Primary, Liverpool

“All the children thoroughly enjoyed their sessions. The stories were age appropriate and engaging. They were expertly delivered. Children have been captivated by storytelling.”

Stuart Hetherington Deputy Headteacher – Woolton Primary School
